AirIQ joined Matt Latino and Team GESi for their NHRA season. It is a departure from the usual fleet yard, and the short version of why is that drag racing runs on the same thing telematics does: a lot of instrumentation, and decisions made on what it says rather than on what anyone remembers.
Who is Matt Latino?
A second-generation racer running with Team GESi on the NHRA circuit. The team works the way good fleets do, which is to say the car is measured constantly and nothing gets changed on a hunch.
Why a telematics company at a drag strip?
Because the argument we make to fleet operators is the one motorsport settled decades ago. You cannot improve what you are not measuring, and the difference between a good run and an expensive one is usually visible in the data before it is visible anywhere else.
