How does a Tool Tag actually work?
A Tool Tag is a small Bluetooth tag that attaches to a tool or piece of equipment. Gateways in your vehicles hear nearby tags and report them, so your dashboard knows which truck each tool is riding on, without anyone scanning anything.
Will it tell me when a tool gets left at a jobsite?
That's the core of it. When the truck leaves and a tagged tool doesn't leave with it, the tag stops checking in from that vehicle, so you find out the same day, not three jobs later when someone finally needs it.
What if a tool is stolen, not just left behind?
A Tool Tag isn't a GPS tracker, so it won't follow the tool across town on its own. What it gives you is a last-seen record: which vehicle or site the tool was with, and when it stopped checking in. That timestamp and location are what make a police report actionable instead of a guess, and they're often enough to narrow a theft to a site, a day, and a crew. For equipment worth tracking on its own, IQ-BAT is the battery-powered GPS option.
What kinds of tools are worth tagging?
Anything that hurts to replace: generators, saws, compressors, ladders, survey gear, specialty kit. If losing it would stall a job or trigger a repurchase, it's worth a tag.
Do I need to be an AirIQ GPS customer to use Tool Tags?
